On December 15, Kent State University's athletic depart­ment announced it was renaming its basketball court "Cope Court" for Jason Cope, who had recently promised to donate $1-million to his alma mater. But Mr. Cope withdrew his gift this month just before The Daily Kent Stater revealed that Mr. Cope had been convicted of helping to defraud investors of $8.7-million in 1999 and 2000. The
